Emberkin Saga
Emberkin Saga surprised me with how much story it packs into a phone. You build a party of four, each with their own skill tree, and combat is turn-based with a positioning twist — where you stand on the grid matters as much as which spell you cast. It scratches the same tactical itch as tower defence, just in a different shape.
Progression is generous. You can respec freely, so experimenting never feels punishing, and the crafting system is light enough that it doesn't become a second job. The writing has a bit of dry humor I didn't expect and grew to like.
Battery drain is real if you push the highest graphics setting, so I capped it and lost nothing important. Dozens of hours in, it still felt fresh. A strong pick if you want depth without needing a controller.
What we liked
- Grid positioning adds real tactics
- Free respec encourages experimentation
- Story and writing punch above their weight
